Shrewsbury is a large market town in Shropshire only 9 miles away from the Welsh border. The town is known for its timber framed Tudor style structures and has over 660 grade listed buildings dating back to the 15th and 16th century.
Shrewsbury is the commercial hub of Shropshire and mid-Wales with lots of retail parks and outlets. There are several comprehensive schools in the town, a couple of private schools and a university centre. It is also a thriving town with much to see and do. The indoor market is award winning with artisan products, sellers of vintage items, gift boutiques, artists and craftspeople all alongside the more traditional fruit and veg stalls and butchers who have been trading there for up to 100 years.
Shrewsbury Castle is also one to visit, dating back to 1074 it is a red sandstone fortification which towers above the town and makes quite an impact. The town has lots to see and do whilst still making you feel like you are in quite a rural area. If you do wish to purchase a property in Shrewsbury, it may be wise to have a survey carried out as a lot of the buildings are grade listed.
